Purchase terms

Effective October 10, 2026

Code & Contour is operated by Placemaking, LLC. Questions or requests: hello@codeandcontour.com.

Your order

One order covers the parcel confirmed at checkout. Review the outline and parcel details before paying. If a property cannot be identified or supported, contact us before ordering. Tell us promptly if you selected the wrong parcel; we will confirm any change before proceeding.

Current coverage is the cities of Austin, West Lake Hills, Rollingwood and Lakeway, plus unincorporated Travis County within Austin’s extraterritorial jurisdiction, or ETJ. The ETJ is the area outside city limits where Austin has some land-use authority. Search availability and source coverage may vary; a missing search result does not establish that the parcel is outside our service area.

What you receive

A PDF site report with an executive summary, a 65-item constraint checklist, zoning and flood research, terrain and slope analysis, known nearby environmental hazards, deed-restriction research, and available unofficial property-history documents. You also receive an interactive 3D view of terrain, tree cover and existing structures current as of the date of our source data. Findings and available records vary by property. The report identifies sources, assumptions and unresolved questions.

An automated workflow helps prepare the report. A person reviews the finished report before delivery.

Price and delivery

The price is $200 USD, paid once. Any applicable tax is shown before payment. Ordinary research costs are included. We will agree any extra work and cost with you before charging.

We deliver within five business days after payment and receipt of requested parcel details. Business days are Monday through Friday, excluding US federal holidays. Your confirmation gives the due date. We email when property-specific research starts.

If a relevant deed or related recorded document needs special retrieval from a government office or records provider, delivery may take up to ten business days total from the same starting date. To use this exception, we email the reason and revised due date before the original deadline. The clock does not restart. Any further delay follows the remedies below.

We email a private report link and access code. Online reading, PDF download and the hosted 3D view remain available for 60 days from that email. Download the PDF and supplied 3D files during that period to keep your copies after online access ends. If access fails, contact us to restore the remaining access period.

Cancellations delays and missing records

Email us to cancel. If we receive your request before property-specific research starts, we refund the full amount paid. After research starts, a change of mind normally does not qualify for a refund. The remedies below still apply.

If we cannot provide the promised report, we refund the full amount paid. If we miss the due date, you may accept a new date or cancel for a full refund before delivery.

If a missing record materially limits the promised report, we explain the gap and offer a choice: accept the report with that limitation or cancel for a full refund. We do not describe unavailable evidence as a clean finding. A documented restriction or other unfavorable finding about the property is not, by itself, a reason for a refund.

Approved refunds go to the original payment method. We confirm when a refund is submitted; your payment provider controls when it appears in your account.

Corrections

Tell us the page or finding you believe contains a factual or calculation mistake and provide supporting information. We investigate and correct confirmed mistakes in our work without charging again. Disagreement with a disclosed assumption or judgment, later changes, or an inaccuracy in source records is not by itself a mistake in our work.

If our confirmed mistake cannot reasonably be corrected and makes the report materially unusable for its stated scope, we refund the amount paid. Minor typographical or formatting issues do not by themselves qualify for a refund. A different property, changed project or later update is separate work agreed in advance.

How to use the report

The report is preliminary research based on available information at the time of preparation. Records may be incomplete or inaccurate, and conditions and rules can change. Confirm important findings before buying, designing or building.

The report is not a boundary or tree survey, formal title examination, title insurance, legal opinion, engineering study, environmental site assessment or government approval. Deed-restriction assessments and development estimates need confirmation by the appropriate professional or authority. We do not guarantee development rights, permits or a particular project outcome.

Copyright sharing and branding

Placemaking, LLC retains copyright in the original report content it owns. Your purchase grants a non-exclusive right to keep, use and share the report and supplied 3D files for evaluating, buying, financing, designing or developing the covered property, including with people helping you. Copyright ownership does not transfer.

Preserve copyright notices, citations and limitations. Resale or other reuse outside that permission requires our written consent, except as permitted by law. We claim no exclusive rights in underlying facts or third-party materials; those materials remain subject to their applicable rights. Anyone with the link and code can access hosted materials during the access period.

If My logo is offered and selected, you permit us to use your supplied logo for the report and confirm you have that permission. Your logo replaces Code & Contour cover branding; copyright notices and hosted Code & Contour links remain. Your logo rights stay yours, and report ownership does not change.

The terms accepted with your order apply to that order. Nothing here limits rights that cannot legally be limited. Our Privacy policy explains how we handle personal information.
